About the position

The Network and Security Operations Center (NSOC) Systems Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Advanced Battle Management System's (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure Network Manager program for the Department of Air Force. This position focuses on maintaining the functionality and access of network hosts, data, voice, and key mission systems by preventing, detecting, evaluating, analyzing, and mitigating system performance issues. The engineer will work closely with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve service outages, ensuring the operational integrity of the network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to service outages and events via trouble tickets from Tier II technicians or monitoring tools.
  • Conduct troubleshooting to maintain access to and functionality of network hosts, data, voice, and key mission systems.
  • Update assigned trouble tickets through resolution and coordinate with vendors as necessary.
  • Interact with system administrators, network technicians, infrastructure technicians, application engineers, and vendors to identify and correct core problems.
  • Develop and document updates to NSOC Knowledge Management tools, scripts, policies, procedures, or automated responses.
  • Create artifacts supporting Information Assurance and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.

Requirements

  • BS degree with at least 4 years of prior relevant experience, or additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active and current Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience troubleshooting RHEL and various platforms, software packages, and associated databases.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP ports and protocols.
  • Experience in Network Security Operations Center (NSOC), Network Operations Center (NOC), or Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Experience developing and optimizing commercial application performance metrics in an IT Operations Management (ITOM) platform.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with virtualized environments (VMware vSp, ESXi).
  • Experience working with cloud computing and infrastructure security (AWS, Azure, etc.) to IL6.
  • RHEL administrator certification.
  • Experience with VoIP system configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience as a member of agile programs.
