About the position

As a Network/Application Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of multi-layered communications networks and associated cybersecurity solutions. Your responsibilities will include performing requirements collection, analysis, and refinement to ensure that the networks meet operational needs. You will be tasked with providing input to specifications and detailed network architecture artifacts, ensuring that the systems are designed with a strong focus on cybersecurity posture. In this position, you will develop integration strategies for proposed solutions and research, evaluate, and report on new and emerging network and cybersecurity technologies. Your expertise will be essential in enhancing the performance, security, and reliability of the network. You will also provide independent verification and validation of vendor-recommended solutions, ensuring that they align with the program's Technology Roadmap. To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of complex cybersecurity technologies and solutions, as well as experience with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions. Your technical skills will be put to the test as you work with various technologies and protocols, including VLANs, TCP/IP, Routing (BGP, OSPF), Firewalling, Wireless Networking, DNS, DHCP, and more. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to provide specific, detailed technical recommendations for the most efficient solutions to meet operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform requirements collection, analysis, and refinement.
  • Design and plan multi-layered communications networks and associated cybersecurity solutions.
  • Provide input to specifications and detailed network architecture artifacts.
  • Provide guidance on externally discoverable system details to maintain proper cyber posture.
  • Provide specific, detailed technical recommendations for efficient solutions to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop integration strategies for proposed solutions.
  • Research, evaluate, and report on new/emerging network/cybersecurity technologies to enhance performance, security, and reliability of the network.
  • Provide input to the program Technology Roadmap.
  • Provide independent verification and validation of vendor-recommended solutions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with complex communications networks.
  • 9+ years of related experience in network engineering.
  • Operational experience and/or knowledge of Special Operations Forces (SOF).
  • Knowledge of complex cybersecurity technologies and solutions.
  • Understanding of and experience with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
  • Experience with VLANs, 802.1Q, TCP/IP, Routing (BGP, OSPF), Firewalling, Wireless Networking, DNS, DHCP, Windows Networking, Windows, Linux, and Browser Fingerprints.
