About the position

The Data Centers Network Architect at Expeditors is a pivotal role responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing health of the company's global network infrastructure. This position is integral to ensuring that Expeditors' network supports its extensive branch infrastructure and global operations, which span over 250 locations worldwide. The Network Architect will work collaboratively within a highly motivated and agile team, representing networking in architecture leadership discussions and driving the evolution of the network to achieve a 99.999% uptime. In this role, the Network Architect will be expected to stay abreast of new technologies, concepts, and approaches, providing technical leadership by coaching and mentoring network engineering staff. The position requires the development and maintenance of industry-standard best security practices, as well as the creation and delivery of professional proposals and design documentation. A key focus will be on driving standardization and automation across all aspects of the network platform, ensuring that the network is not only robust but also efficient and scalable to meet the demands of a global supply chain management environment. This position is based on-site in the greater Seattle, WA area, with potential locations including Downtown Seattle, Federal Way, Lynnwood, and Bellevue (Factoria). Candidates must be local or willing to relocate, as relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support Expeditors' global and local networks and connections.
  • Lead the evolution of the Expeditors network across more than 250 locations.
  • Collaborate as a member of a highly motivated and agile team.
  • Represent networking in architecture leadership discussions.
  • Design a global network with 99.999% uptime.
  • Interact with people more than systems to understand requirements and challenges.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, concepts, and approaches in networking.
  • Provide technical leadership by coaching and mentoring network engineering staff.
  • Develop and maintain industry-standard best security practices.
  • Create and deliver professional proposals and design documentation.
  • Drive standardization and automation into all aspects of the network platform.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in the development and/or enhancement of large-scale enterprise WAN.
  • Prior experience in designing a global network with multiple data centers.
  • Prior experience in the development and deployment of SDWAN.
  • Prior experience with the design and implementation of wireless networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco routing & switching.
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, in a multi-site network.
  • Keen attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Big-IP LTM/GTM deployments and configurations.
  • Experience with Windows and UNIX operating systems.
  • Experience with public and private cloud design and implementation.
  • Experience with third party vendor management.
  • Experience with implementation of network segmentation, including concepts such as zero trust.
  • CCIE and CCDE certifications or equivalent.
