About the position

The Network Architect will be responsible for researching, designing, and deploying access and transport network technologies across various network vendors and applications, specifically for integrated Fiber to the Premise based broadband infrastructures. This role involves collaboration with multiple departments to plan, configure, and implement network solutions, providing consultative technical expertise and creating detailed designs and configuration blueprints for complex solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and deploy access and transport network technologies.
  • Create High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low Level Designs (LLDs) for network solutions.
  • Work with sales teams to interface directly with clients and build trusted advisor relationships.
  • Develop and document architectures that address member business objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of NRTC intellectual property and industry recognition.
  • Oversee product evaluations and coordinate product and service selections.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, functional analysis, and system design.
  • Research and evaluate new hardware, software, and virtualized products.
  • Ensure full stack integration and support device/product needs including QoS and traffic prioritization.
  • Lead the charge in translating project requirements into technical solutions for service provider networks.
  • Develop documentation for testing, troubleshooting, and administrating network devices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
  • Provide Tier III operational support and act as an escalation point for complex issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years industry experience at a Service Provider or similar environment.
  • Current industry certifications: CCNA, transport and access vendor certifications preferred.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills in service provider architectures.
  • Expert knowledge in Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and related protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with Optical Networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with SDN and NFV technologies.
  • Knowledge of DC power engineering and infrastructure engineering.
