About the position

NSFOCUS is seeking an experienced Network Architect to join our team and take charge of maintaining and developing our global cloud network. This role is critical as it involves not only the technical aspects of network architecture but also the strategic planning and implementation of network solutions that align with our organizational goals. The Network Architect will be responsible for developing and troubleshooting routing policies, making traffic engineering decisions, and architecting automation solutions for network provisioning. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, as the architect will collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure that the network is designed and implemented effectively to meet the needs of our organization. In this position, the Network Architect will leverage their expertise to enhance the overall network architecture, ensuring reliability and scalability. The role requires a detailed-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team, adjusting priorities as necessary to deliver improvements in network design and processes. The architect will also be responsible for producing detailed engineering documentation, including network diagrams, rack elevations, and routing designs, which are crucial for maintaining clarity and efficiency in network operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining network architecture, including the selection of appropriate hardware and software components. A thorough understanding of various networking protocols and technologies, such as BGP, VRF, IS-IS, IPv6, OSPF, Anycast, QoS, and Traffic Engineering, is essential. Additionally, familiarity with network security concepts and best practices, as well as scripting and automation skills, will be highly beneficial in this role. The Network Architect will play a pivotal role in ensuring that NSFOCUS continues to provide state-of-the-art hybrid DDoS protection and other security services to our clients, which include some of the world's largest telecommunication companies and banks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and troubleshoot routing policies for the global cloud network.
• Make traffic engineering decisions to optimize network performance.
• Architect automation solutions for network provisioning.
• Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to design and implement network solutions.
• Produce detailed engineering documentation including network diagrams and routing designs.
• Maintain and develop overall network architecture, selecting appropriate hardware and software components.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of the network through effective monitoring and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Detailed oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining overall network architecture.
• Experience troubleshooting service provider networks to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Thorough understanding of BGP, VRF, IS-IS, IPv6, OSPF, Anycast, QoS, Traffic Engineering, Route-maps, BGP communities, RPKI & IRR objects.
• Understanding of Internet provider/IP transit ecosystem & IXP peering, as well as datacenter cross-connects & optical cabling standards.
• Experience with network security concepts and technologies including SSH, IPSec, TACACs, firewall policies, and 802.1x.
• Scripting and automation skills, including knowledge of Python, Ansible, JINJA2, YAML, and NETCONF.
• Ability to produce detailed engineering documentation such as network diagrams and routing designs.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of DDoS attacks and appropriate mitigations.
• Familiarity with EVPN/VXLAN.
• Familiarity with Git version control.
• Experience working with Tier2/3 ISP environments using Arista or Cisco routing hardware.
• Experience with Arista Cloud Vision Portal.
