About the position

As a Network Automation / Infrastructure as Code Engineer at GDIT, you will play a pivotal role in supporting some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country. This position is focused on providing modernization and lifecycle support for Information Technology infrastructure, specifically for the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). You will be a change agent, working to enhance the capabilities of this unique customer through long-term engineering services and the development of new functional enhancements. Your expertise will be critical in transforming the ways clients invest in, integrate, and innovate technology solutions, ensuring that today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in systems engineering and automation to design and implement solutions that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and optimization within the IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining automation scripts, managing configuration management tools, and ensuring the security and integrity of the network infrastructure. You will also be expected to stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve the services provided to our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in networking, cloud computing, and scripting languages, along with a proven track record of successful project delivery in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that project goals are met and that the needs of the client are prioritized. This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance and US citizenship, as you will be working on sensitive government projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automation solutions for IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and other scripting languages.
  • Manage configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the network infrastructure.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree.
  • 8+ years of related experience in systems engineering and automation.
  • 5-8 years of enterprise-level network experience.
  • Proficiency in networking concepts and practices.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (vSphere, VMware, ESXi).
  • Familiarity with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and storage solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices.
  • Experience with version control systems (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Subversion).
  • Experience with continuous integration tools (GitLab, Jenkins).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible).
  • Possession of a CCNA/CCNP certification is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network design.
  • Familiarity with Django, Jinja2, YAML, and JSON.
