About the position

At Bank of America, the Network Automation Software Engineer II plays a crucial role in developing and delivering complex software solutions that align with business goals. This position is responsible for ensuring that software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. The engineer will engage in coding solutions, conducting unit testing, and ensuring that the developed solutions can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system. This includes creating clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. The role requires an awareness of industry development and testing practices, emphasizing the importance of quality and compliance in software delivery. The responsibilities of the Network Automation Software Engineer II extend to coding solutions and unit testing to meet defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. The engineer will utilize multiple architectural components across data, application, and business domains in the design and development of client requirements. Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities are a significant part of the job, along with contributing to story refinement and the definition of requirements. The engineer will also participate in estimating the work necessary to realize a story or requirement throughout the delivery lifecycle. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to existing test suites, including integration, regression, and performance tests, analyzing test reports to identify any issues or errors and triaging the underlying causes. The role may also involve performing spikes or proofs of concept as necessary to mitigate risks or implement new ideas. The position is part of the Technology Infrastructure Organization, focusing on automation development for multiple technology integrations and automation tasks, maintaining and implementing code, and addressing bug fixes throughout the application lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas

Requirements

  • 3+ years software development experience in multiple frontend and backend languages (Python, Go, Yang, NSO, Ansible, Java, and Bash scripting)
  • Skilled in developing solutions for network defined automation and/or cloud IT solutions, including API Development and Integration
  • Experience with various database technologies like MySQL, MongoDB and MariaDB
  • Knowledge of both distributed / parallel software architectures and different modeling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate)
  • Understanding of IT standards, controls and application security development
  • Application development methodologies and infrastructure as well as analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps)
  • Proficiency in executing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and delivering automated software testing
  • Working knowledge of JIRA/Remedy/Service Now
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with developers in an outsourced environment
