About The Position
The Communications Technician/Project Foreman position at Broadband Technology Corp. offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to advance their careers in the communications industry. This role is pivotal in the planning, layout, and complete installation of new commercial and retrofit communications equipment and systems. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all installations comply with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The position requires a strong understanding of various cabling systems, including Cat3 to Cat7 copper cables and fiber optics, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications. In this role, the technician will engage in a variety of tasks, including the installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of cabling systems. The technician will also be responsible for installing cable trays, ladder racks, and ensuring proper grounding and bonding. A significant aspect of the job involves providing professional and prompt responses to customer requests, effectively resolving concerns, and problem-solving in a timely manner. The technician may also be involved in data center operations, including rack and stack activities and patching. The position may require supervising a small team of 1-3 technicians, working independently, or operating under the direct supervision of a senior communications technician. A full working knowledge of test equipment is essential, along with the ability to install and work with various types of connectors, terminations, and pin configurations. Familiarity with TIA and EIA standards, as well as section 800 of the NEC, is considered a plus.
