About the position

The Network Capacity Engineer at ManTech is responsible for analyzing and optimizing network performance, providing technical reviews, and ensuring effective communication between development and operations teams. This role involves utilizing various performance analysis tools, automating processes, and supporting application deployment issues to enhance user experience and system efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide performance analysis and reporting using New Relic, Riverbed, SolarWinds, and other tools for gathering metrics on network performance.
  • Provide system health check technical reviews and recommendations for improvements in CPU, memory, disk utilization, and capacity.
  • Maintain performance tools by testing and applying vendor-released patches and coordinating upgrades with stakeholders.
  • Monitor WAN and take corrective actions to respond to issues.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for automation using Ansible, Python, Chef, and other scripts.
  • Use Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) for network management and troubleshooting.
  • Support application deployment issues and provide forensic analysis for web services in Java and .Net environments.
  • Analyze technologies to enhance application performance and improve user experience.
  • Provide application performance analysis and reporting on a scheduled and ad hoc basis.
  • Provide O&M support for government performance tools including Riverbed Technologies suite, SolarWinds, and NewRelic.
  • Provide Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) application metrics reporting as needed.
  • Conduct technical reviews of application performance analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams to analyze complex system problems.
  • Provide reports for system CPU, memory, disk utilization, and capacity on a scheduled and ad hoc basis.
  • Coordinate efforts between application development and operation teams to meet performance standards.
  • Provide concise recommendations to development and operation teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop Riverbed AppInternals scripts to monitor and debug performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise JavaScript dashboards.
  • Provide Business Automation Development using JavaScript, Python, Node.js, and React.
  • Create dashboards for application performance metrics using various tools.
  • Configure and utilize SNMP and NetFlow data within Riverbed and SolarWinds products.
  • Manage performance repositories within VMware vCenter, Riverbed, and SolarWinds products.
  • Create SolarWinds reports for WAN performance on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis.
  • Diagnose and resolve application deployment and system problems for multi-tier systems.
  • Support Platform Engineering and DevOps Integration.
  • Diagnose and debug performance issues in Java Virtual Machine and Microsoft CLR environments.
  • Respond to performance tickets and provide after-action and incident analysis reports to the government.
  • Review and provide recommendations to government managers for USCIS OneNet Change Requests.
  • Create a tools analysis report and provide recommendations on cost savings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant Networking experience.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with major cloud providers preferred.
  • Superior technical aptitude and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Ansible, Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Git, Jenkins, New Relic, Oracle OEM, Puppet, Riverbed, SolarWinds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  • CCNP, CCNA or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, GitHub, Jira, Confluence.
  • Experience with ITIL, DevSecOps, and Agile concepts.
  • Experience supporting Government contracts.
