About the position

The Network & Cloud Developer at Gromelski and Associates, Inc. is responsible for integrating physical and virtual networks for various systems and subsystems, specifically for the United States Navy. This role involves network design and analysis for real-time systems across Navy Submarine, Surveillance, Surface Ship, and Aviation programs. The ideal candidate will engage in all phases of network development, ensuring compliance with network protocol standards while working collaboratively to meet critical delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

• Integrate both physical and virtual networks for systems and subsystems for the United States Navy.
• Perform network design and analysis tasks for real-time systems for Navy programs.
• Participate in all phases of network development including high-level design, detailed design, development, and integration and testing.
• Ensure adherence to requirements for various network protocol standards.
• Provide documentation support for Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Developer and Deployment Guides (DDG).
• Support general integration and testing activities.
• Provide troubleshooting support.

Requirements

• B.S. in Network Engineering, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 5 years of professional experience in network engineering.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
• Willingness to work overtime and off-shift as needed to support business requirements.
• Ability to work independently and be task-driven.
• Strong team player with the ability to foster relationships and team success.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong LINUX/UNIX command line and scripting skills.
• Familiarity with Cisco, Arista, and HP products.
• Knowledge of 1/10/25 Gig protocols, serial and satellite links, cable standards, and optical specifications/requirements.
• Understanding of Software Defined Networking (SDN).
• Experience with Ansible, VxLAN, OVS, Linux Bridging, and SR-IOV.
• Familiarity with Docker, Virtualization, and Containerization.
