About the position

The Network Cloud Engineer (NCE) will support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) in establishing the Joint Operational Edge (JOE) and other cloud capabilities. This role focuses on networking technologies, assisting in the design, architecture, and daily operations of the JOE environment.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and administer IT Networking components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers as virtualized devices.
• Implement standard routing protocols and switching architecture for on-premise Cloud Service Provider (CSP) infrastructure.
• Manage BGP implementations on Customer Edge (CE) routers in a high availability pair and establish new circuit connectivity with a DoD Service Provider.
• Obtain and decode packet captures to resolve network issues like latency, jitter, and packet loss.
• Utilize automation tools such as RedHat Ansible and/or HashiCorp Terraform.
• Code using languages such as Perl, Python, Powershell, and CSP CLI.
• Deploy virtualized compute resources within a CSP Virtual Data Center Security Stack via CSP console.
• Ensure proper configuration management of network configuration items.
• Conduct traffic engineering analysis and studies, including SD-WAN technologies.
• Deploy cluster storage with on-premise Cloud infrastructure, particularly block storage.
• Deploy Kubernetes (e.g., EKS) container solutions within a CSP service hosting enclave.
• Develop and manage detailed transition plans for projects.
• Create and maintain Concept of Operations documentation.
• Participate in organizational meetings and events to integrate into the structure.
• Familiarity with the DoD Thunderdome project and its interaction with on-premise Cloud equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 4 years with Ph.D. (Certifications may substitute for education).
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• US Citizenship required.
• DoD 8570 Certifications (Security +).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong writing and grammatical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
