About the position

As a Network Cloud Security Engineer at MITRE, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the All-Domain Integration (ADI) Department, which is dedicated to developing and delivering integrated, agile mission capabilities for the US and Coalition forces. Your work will focus on enabling these forces to operate at the speed of relevance by developing joint, all-domain operational concepts and transitioning these capabilities to the warfighter. This position requires a deep understanding of multi-domain sensor operations, Command and Control (C2), and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) integration, among other areas. You will be part of a collaborative team that tackles high-priority challenges in all-domain operations and Joint, All-Domain Command & Control (JADC2). In this role, you will act as a technical leader, identifying, assessing, prototyping, and implementing optimal cloud-based solutions. You will recommend improvements in processes, security, and architecture, focusing on the migration path for Air Force systems to Commercial Cloud Service Providers. Your collaboration with multiple stakeholders will be essential in developing solutions that consider various perspectives and variables. You will also work closely with other cloud computing communities within MITRE to ensure product quality and adherence to common standards. Your expertise in cybersecurity will guide MITRE's sponsors in implementing best practices and integrating cloud solutions into tactical and enterprise networks, ultimately enabling mission success. Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical leader in a collaborative team environment to identify, assess, prototype, and implement optimal cloud-based solutions.
  • Recommend process, security, and architecture improvements.
  • Develop recommendations on the migration path for Air Force systems and applications to Commercial Cloud Service Providers.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to develop optimal solutions that account for various perspectives.
  • Coordinate development efforts with other cloud computing communities across MITRE to ensure product quality and common standards.
  • Apply industry best practices in cybersecurity to guide MITRE's sponsors in implementation and technical advisement.
  • Integrate cloud solutions into tactical and enterprise networks to enable command and control and mission success.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Understanding of Cloud Computing techniques, methods, and best practices including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Platform, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience applying cybersecurity concepts.
  • Understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
  • Programming language experience with one or more of: Java, ASP.NET, PHP, Ruby, YAML, JSON, PYTHON.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively participate as a member of multi-disciplinary teams across organizations.
  • Ability to frame and articulate complex technical problems and concepts clearly in a systems engineering context.
  • Ability to work independently while seeking guidance and collaboration in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
