About the position

The Network Deployment Engineer I at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for building and supporting Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of the Infrastructure Operations team. This role focuses on scaling network systems to meet customer demand, ensuring the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks, and automating processes. The engineer will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate project execution and manage day-to-day capacity management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
  • Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
  • Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
  • Participate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.

Requirements

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • High school or equivalent diploma and 1+ years experience as a technician or engineer installing and/or troubleshooting network cabling and hardware in a data center environment.
  • Experience with small project scopes and ambiguous details within a relevant work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • BS in Information Systems or Computer Science and/or relevant certifications.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, etc.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.
  • General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of data center infrastructure.
