About the position

The position requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network design, integration, testing, security, and implementation of Network Services specifically for DISA DoDNet. The candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge in network engineering and operations to implement large-scale enterprise network solutions and facilitate their transition to Network Operations. This role also involves conducting test and evaluation activities to ensure the effectiveness and security of network services. The SME will provide expert guidance on secure wide area connectivity, which includes underlay, overlay, and COI transport design, ensuring that all solutions meet performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements. In addition to proposing innovative solutions to Network Domain Architects, the SME will be responsible for creating and maintaining Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP). They will evaluate network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to address those requirements effectively. The role demands a deep understanding of defense-in-depth standards, network and security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements. The candidate will also plan and execute network upgrades and maintenance activities in collaboration with Delivery Operations Managers, NOC Leads, Release Management teams, and other key stakeholders. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring the ability to adapt to mission-focused challenges. The position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of remote and on-site work, and is part of a significant initiative to build and modernize the defense network, providing an opportunity to contribute to a project from its early stages.
