About the position

As a Network Design Engineer I at Landis+Gyr, you will play a crucial role in defining network hardware requirements and performance capabilities to support specific client requests for information (RFI), requests for proposals (RFP), and deployment contract awards. Your responsibilities will include performing network design activities for both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), which involves modeling activities necessary to estimate capacity requirements based on client specifications. You will also be tasked with maintaining, evaluating, analyzing, and utilizing high-performance databases associated with client-provided and purchased data. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will support engineering field trials and provide day-to-day support for the System Solutions function. Your role will require you to provide mapping, demographic, and geographic data management services, working with large datasets while utilizing various RF models and mapping applications. You will continue to validate and evolve RF and data models to ensure that the current models used for projecting network solutions are in line with the latest technology developments and new product introductions. Responsibilities

  • Defining network hardware requirements and performance capabilities in support of specific client RFI, RFP, and Deployment Contract Awards.
  • Performing network design activities for LAN and WAN elements of the total solution, including modeling activities to estimate capacity requirements based on client needs.
  • Maintaining, evaluating, analyzing, and utilizing high-performance databases associated with client-provided and purchased data.
  • Supporting engineering field trials and day-to-day support of the System Solutions function.
  • Providing mapping, demographic, and geographic data management services.
  • Working with large amounts of data utilizing various RF models and mapping applications.
  • Validating and evolving RF and data models to ensure conformance with the latest technology developments and new product introductions.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Electric / Water / Gas utility metering industry desired.
  • Antenna knowledge related to propagation models desired.
  • Experience with Radio Frequency technology (low power RF preferred).
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency propagation models desired.
  • Experience with mapping software (e.g., EDX, MapInfo).
  • Experience working with demographic and geographic data.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • College degree.
  • 4+ years equivalent work experience.
