As a Long Distance (LD) Transport Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design and engineering of long distance, ultra-long haul, and OTN mesh network transport systems. This position requires a deep understanding of the telecommunications industry, particularly in the areas of SONET/SDH, ultra-long haul (ULH), and Optical Transport Network (OTN) technologies. You will be responsible for managing network equipment inventory and ensuring the integrity of provisioning databases, which includes installations, decommissions, and system updates to maintain data accuracy and reliability. Your expertise will be essential in creating and activating end-to-end services at the optical layer using the OneControl GUI, as well as performing database cleanup to ensure system integrity. In this role, you will collaborate with peers to ensure optimal transport performance (OTP) and timely delivery of services to meet business and customer needs. You will also handle escalations and troubleshoot issues as they arise, requiring a proactive approach to problem-solving. Staying current with technological advancements in the field will be vital to your success, as will your ability to work independently while also being a team player. The position is structured around a standard day shift from 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend or on-call work required, allowing for a balanced work-life dynamic.
