Sanford Health is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team, responsible for the implementation and maintenance of large-scale enterprise networks. This position offers the flexibility of remote work for candidates residing in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, or Nebraska. The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and architecting data highways for our organization, ensuring that our network infrastructure supports a wide range of systems effectively. In this role, you will be tasked with supporting multiple routing and switching protocols, providing guidance to technical support teams engaged in the implementation and troubleshooting of hardware and software. Proficiency in network management platforms and troubleshooting tools, such as protocol analyzers, is essential. You will also be expected to attend training, conferences, and seminars to enhance your knowledge of specific hardware and software relevant to our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a systems approach to problem-solving and process improvement, with the ability to plan, architect, and document enterprise-class solutions for future network growth. A fundamental working knowledge of operating systems and software currently used throughout Sanford Health is required, along with strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Network certifications are a plus, as is knowledge of network routing and switching hardware, as well as network security equipment and best practices. Desired experience includes a solid understanding of advanced TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewall technologies. Familiarity with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for network function virtualization, as well as machine learning algorithms to predict network performance and automate capacity planning, is highly desirable. You should also have experience integrating network automation with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and proficiency in network automation tools such as Terraform and GitOps for infrastructure as code (IaC) practices. The ability to develop automation solutions for existing and new network technologies, document complex processes, and automate network configuration deployment using modern scripting languages is essential for success in this role.
