This position is crucial for designing and architecting data highways that support our mission of health and healing across our extensive network. The Network Engineer will play a key role in supporting multiple routing and switching protocols, providing guidance to technical support teams engaged in the implementation and troubleshooting of hardware and software that support a wide range of systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using network management platforms and troubleshooting tools, such as protocol analyzers, and will attend training, conferences, and seminars as needed to enhance their knowledge of specific hardware and software. In this role, the Network Engineer will be expected to understand a systems approach to problem-solving and process improvement, involving collaboration with staff to plan, architect, and document enterprise-class solutions for future network growth. A fundamental working knowledge of operating systems and software currently used throughout Sanford Health is essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively convey complex technical information. Network certifications are a plus, as is knowledge of network routing and switching hardware, as well as network security equipment and best practices. The desired work experience includes an excellent understanding of advanced TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewall technologies. The candidate should be skilled in utilizing container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for network function virtualization and have an understanding of machine learning algorithms to predict network performance and automate capacity planning. Additionally, the ability to integrate network automation with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) for seamless cloud networking is crucial. Proficiency in network automation tools such as Terraform and GitOps for infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and deployment in CI/CD pipelines is also required. The Network Engineer will develop automation solutions to work with existing and new network technologies, including switches, routers, and firewalls, and will be responsible for documenting complex processes and turning them into actionable requirements for developers.
