About the position

The Network Design Engineer position is a remote role requiring an active Secret Clearance and involves occasional travel to a Navy base for SIPR access. The engineer will focus on configuring and testing network solutions, particularly with Aruba wireless devices, while ensuring compliance with security standards and managing extensive documentation for solution approval.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain requirements from the Network Architect and translate them into network configurations.
  • Develop a test plan for the designed configuration.
  • Ensure the designed solution meets all requirements outlined by the architect.
  • Collaborate with other groups to ensure the solution meets security standards.
  • Handle extensive documentation required for solution approval.

Requirements

  • Active Fully Secret Clearance is required.
  • Security+ CE certification is required.
  • Experience with Aruba wireless devices is a must.
  • Strong engineering and configuration experience with Cisco routers and switches (CCNP level).
  • Strong understanding of OSI layers II and III.
  • Knowledge of design and system interfaces for Transport Boundary System.
  • Expertise with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP (IPv4/IPv6).
  • Strong understanding of VPN technologies.
  • Experience with strategies for maintaining functional production systems during transitions.
  • Experience with creating test plans and procedures.
  • Experience with WAN edge design and engineering.
  • Experience with logical/virtual network segmentation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on government networks.
  • Understanding of RMF and JIE Constructs, particularly Base Node.
