About the position

The Network Design Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in network design, integration, testing, security, and implementation of Network Services for DISA DoDNet. This role requires extensive knowledge of network engineering and operations, focusing on large-scale enterprise network solutions and their transition to Network Operations. The engineer will propose new solutions, create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans, evaluate network bandwidth needs, and ensure compliance with defense-in-depth standards and security architecture.

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise in network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Network Services for DISA DoDNet.
• Evaluate network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements.
• Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
• Plan and execute network upgrades and maintenance activities with key stakeholders.
• Propose new solutions to Network Domain Architects to define and improve network services.
• Provide expert knowledge of defense-in-depth standards, network and security architecture, and common security elements.

Requirements

• Master's degree and 15-20+ years of experience in network engineering; additional years of related work experience may substitute for a degree.
• DoD IAT level II baseline certification (Sec+) prior to start.
• Active CISSP or CCIE certification.
• Advanced/professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
• 10+ years' experience engineering and troubleshooting networks, including extensive routing and switching experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.
• Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.
