The Chief Network Design Engineer will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network design, integration, testing, security, and implementation of Network Services for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) DoDNet. This role requires extensive experience in network engineering and operations, particularly in large-scale enterprise network solution implementation and transition to Network Operations. The engineer will be responsible for providing expert knowledge on secure wide area connectivity, which includes underlay, overlay, and COI transport design that meets performance, quality of service, security, and mission requirements. In this position, the Chief Network Design Engineer will propose innovative solutions to Network Domain Architects aimed at defining and continuously improving network services. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP), evaluating network bandwidth needs, and recommending measures to meet those requirements. The engineer will also provide expert knowledge of defense-in-depth standards, network and security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements. Additionally, the role involves planning and executing network upgrades and maintenance activities in collaboration with Delivery Operations Managers, NOC Leads, Release Management teams, and other key stakeholders.
