About the position

The Network Development Engineer I position at Amazon Robotics Infrastructure Engineering focuses on building and operating networks that support Amazon Fulfillment Centers and delivery services. The role involves designing, deploying, and automating networks to ensure high performance, availability, and security, while minimizing human intervention. The engineer will work on cross-functional projects, tackle complex problems, and collaborate with various technical teams to enhance Amazon's fulfillment networks.

Responsibilities

  • Write code for demanding, cross-functional networking projects.
  • Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
  • Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
  • Effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against competing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.
  • 3+ years experience in a network-focused hands-on technical role with IP routing protocols in large scale data center, LAN, or WAN environments.
  • 3+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms for IP networks.
  • 3+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events.
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming, Infrastructure as Code, Ansible.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture.
  • Experience with vendor platforms like Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and/or systems technologies.
  • Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
