About the position

The Network Development Engineer II role at Amazon focuses on utilizing network and Unix systems engineering to create sustainable and repeatable solutions for next-generation IP networks. This position is integral to the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the stability and efficiency of data centers and networks that support AWS and its customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, and internal/external customer interactions.
• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools for scaling at a higher volume.
• Lead network projects in areas such as sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
• Provide critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events for AWS customers.
• Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configuration issues.
• Drive and support innovation across the network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering and configuration standards.
• Ensure compliance with networking standards and policies.
• Create and review documentation regarding network implementations, deployments, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols.
• 4+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Associate's degree or relevant certifications such as CEH, CFR, Cloud+, GICSP, or SSCP.

Nice-to-haves

• 1+ years of experience with automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, and/or Perl.
