About the position

This position is for a Network Engineer within HII's Mission Technologies Division, which is recognized for its commitment to national defense and cybersecurity. The role is based in Albuquerque, NM, and requires an active SECRET security clearance. The Network Engineer will be responsible for performing engineering analysis on current network systems and assisting with the planning of new systems and upgrades. This includes supporting the design and maintenance of network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, and ensuring that the hardware and software selected meet mission needs. The engineer will also conduct integration and testing of network designs, maintain system configuration control, and troubleshoot network issues as they arise. In addition to these responsibilities, the Network Engineer will monitor and analyze overall network performance, define and document system policies, and perform security risk management in accordance with DoD policies. The role requires familiarity with the DoD Risk Management Framework and Information Assurance policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, building, integrating, testing, and maintaining network and computing infrastructure, as well as experience in establishing cybersecurity certifications for DoD weapons systems. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis on current network systems and assist with the planning of new systems and/or upgrades.
  • Support design and maintenance of network systems, including providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Conduct integration and testing of network design and maintain system configuration control over software and hardware versions.
  • Manage the requirements, design, and implementation for networks and end-to-end systems to support mission operations.
  • Monitor and analyze overall network performance for areas of improvement/optimization.
  • Define, document, and implement system policies as approved by the program office.
  • Perform security risk management and maintain network system security in accordance with DoD policy and standards.
  • Provide interface control documents, emulator/simulator baseline control, test plans, network diagrams, and recommendations for production and test system hardware.
  • Offer and manage the network system engineering program documentation.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Master's in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with designing, building, integrating, testing, and maintaining network and computing infrastructure.
  • Experience analyzing alternatives and validating system performance.
  • Establishing cybersecurity certifications and/or authority to operate (ATO) for the fielding of new/modified DoD weapons systems.
  • An active SECRET security clearance is required.
