About the position

The Network Engineer/Architect position is responsible for the design and development of Service Provider and Data Communications networks. This role involves translating business requirements into specific network systems or process designs for large complex network solutions, leading global network infrastructure design, optimization, documentation, and QoS design/implementation projects. The ideal candidate will possess up-to-date hands-on skills and the ability to design and develop a full range of network-based product offerings, including data center services and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Service Provider and Data Communications networks.
  • Translate business requirements into specific network systems or process designs.
  • Lead global network infrastructure design and optimization projects.
  • Document network architecture and design.
  • Implement QoS design and projects.
  • Monitor network performance and tuning.
  • Design and implement global network security architecture.
  • Cross-train departmental team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems or a similar technical field, or 12 years of equivalent directly related experience.
  • Ten years of experience managing LAN/WAN hardware equipment including routers, switches, load balancers, and wireless network equipment.
  • Eight years of professional experience in networking with expert knowledge of OSI Layer-1, 2, and 3 including LAN switches, routers, general TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, and associated protocols.
  • Five years of experience in system design specification, prototyping, and testing of high-capacity networking systems.
  • Five years of experience at an ISP or large global network provider.
  • Five years of experience designing and testing core switching, routing, or application delivery platforms for ISP topologies.
  • Five years of experience in Network Operations and Monitoring for a 24X7 environment.
  • Five years of experience in network monitoring and long-term trending of SLA, performance, and sizing metrics.
  • Cisco CCNP and/or CCIE certifications are a must.
