Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is seeking a skilled Network Engineer/Architect who is passionate about network engineering and architecture. This role is crucial for implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and administering a secure network that supports EEI's critical information systems and data. The successful candidate will collaborate across the IT department to ensure that the network infrastructure is reliable, redundant, performant, scalable, and secure. This position offers an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of EEI's technological landscape. In this role, the Network Engineer/Architect will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues with EEI's computer network and systems. This includes hardware, systems software, applications software, and other related systems. The candidate will perform disaster recovery operations and data backups, ensuring that all server, system, and software patches are up to date. Collaboration with users to identify and resolve Tier 2-3 issues is also a key responsibility. The role requires the implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. The candidate will evaluate and develop requirements for network and software technologies, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, routers, firewalls, and related devices. Additionally, the Network Engineer/Architect will implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices such as WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers, servers, VoIP, and VMs. Monitoring and adjusting network performance, as well as responding to IDS cues and anti-virus alerts, are essential tasks. The candidate will work closely with the IT team to troubleshoot and resolve security vulnerabilities, clearly articulating IT security enhancement requirements to all EEI staff. They will also provide subject matter expert (SME) support to business divisions to integrate business requirements into network and cloud architectures. In the event of security breaches, the Network Engineer/Architect will assist with incident response activities, including technical and forensic investigations, and report findings and recommendations for further system security enhancements. Developing, recommending, and documenting IT standards, policies, and procedures following best practices is also part of the role, along with monitoring compliance with these standards and participating in training programs as needed.
