About the position

Mastech is a growing company dedicated to innovation and teamwork. We are currently seeking a Network Engineer/Architect for our client in the Banking domain. This position is a contract role, and the client is looking for someone to start immediately. The duration of the contract is 11 months, and the location is Cleveland, OH. The compensation for this role depends on experience. The Network Engineer/Architect will be responsible for determining user requirements and designing specifications for computer networks. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in the field, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. In this role, the candidate will analyze and make recommendations to adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands. They will supervise network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades, and review and approve equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operating systems. The candidate will also review and approve solutions for network problems and conceptual, logical, or physical network designs. Additionally, they will develop procedures to track, project, or report network availability, reliability, capacity, or utilization, and recommend network security measures such as firewalls and network security audits. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and make recommendations to adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands.
• Supervise network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades.
• Review and approve equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers or server operating systems.
• Review and approve solutions for network problems.
• Review and approve conceptual, logical or physical network designs.
• Develop procedures to track, project or report network availability, reliability, capacity or utilization.
• Develop or recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School degree and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required or equivalent work experience required.
• 8+ years of experience required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Strong mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storage.
• Strong knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software.
