About the position

The Data Centers Network Engineer at Expeditors is a pivotal role responsible for the design and implementation of our extensive enterprise network. As a member of the Data Centers' Networking Team, you will engage in the design and integration of computer networks that facilitate data transfer and communication between various computer systems, online networks, and databases. This position requires a strong ability to configure, support, and troubleshoot both global and local networks, which are essential for the infrastructure and operations of Expeditors' branches and Data Centers worldwide. In this role, you will collaborate with a highly motivated and agile team, contributing to the development and maintenance of self-service technology and monitoring systems. You will apply your technical skills in the design, development, integration, and testing of networking components. Your responsibilities will include installing and configuring network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as working closely with the Cyber Security Team to develop, implement, and maintain industry-standard security practices. Regular network maintenance, including software and hardware updates, will also be part of your duties. Candidates for this position must be local or willing to relocate, as relocation assistance is not provided. The role is full-time, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and adheres to a business professional dress code.

Responsibilities

  • Be a collaborative member of a highly motivated and agile team
  • Develop and maintain self-service technology and monitoring systems
  • Apply technical skills in the design, development, integration, and testing of networking components
  • Installing and configuring network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Work with the Cyber Security Team to develop, implement and maintain industry standard security practices
  • Conducting regular network maintenance, including updating software and hardware.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years working in a 200+ branch environment
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as iBGP, OSPF, MPLS, and DMVPN
  • Experience in Enterprise level WAN administration
  • Experience designing and administering network environments
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Typical TCP/IP layer 1 - 4, DHCP, DNS etc.
  • A relevant bachelor's degree and/or comparable work experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with network shaping and monitoring
  • Experience with cloud networking
  • Experience with Infoblox, LiveNX, and other management tools
  • Experience with Windows and UNIX operating systems
  • Experience with wireless networking (Cisco, Juniper)
  • Experience with SD-WAN configurations
  • Experience working trouble tickets and handling high priority escalations
  • Scripting in at least one language such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, ruby, bash
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Experience with firewalls, proxies, load balancers a plus
