About the position

The Network Engineer position within Meta's Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) team focuses on designing, deploying, and managing network infrastructure for Meta's global engineering labs. This role is crucial in supporting the development of new technologies, including the Metaverse and GenAI, and offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with engineering teams on hardware and software projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally to design, plan, deploy, and manage infrastructure in labs.
  • Partner with engineering teams to understand business goals, use cases, and test requirements.
  • Architect and deploy solutions to support testing and development in lab and manufacturing environments.
  • Provide support and consultation to internal teams who utilize network infrastructure to test and validate new products.
  • Proactively contribute to and maintain technical documentation.
  • Set technical strategy for the organizational engineering roadmap.
  • Interpret security and compliance policy and develop standards and guidelines for lab environments.
  • Drive complex operational issues to include communications, root cause identification, and problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of work experience responsible for designing, deploying and operating large scale networks.
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with experience in Wi-Fi, transport, and IP networking hardware.
  • Understanding of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling, space, power, and cooling.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against mission critical deadlines.
  • Proven experience working in a global team environment and solving problems.
  • Experience working in operations to include managing escalations and executive communications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working as a tech lead or organizational leader.
  • Hands-on experience with development of security and compliance strategy.
  • Experience building security programs.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP.
  • Project life cycle management from requirement gathering to customer handoff.
  • Experience with hardware development.
  • Experience with tooling development and software development lifecycle.
