About the position

The Network Engineer position is a direct hire opportunity that offers a hybrid work environment, requiring the candidate to be onsite in Atlanta, GA two times a week. This role is critical in ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, monitoring, and security of both cloud-based and on-premise networking environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing networks, troubleshooting issues, maintaining security protocols, and training end-users. The emphasis of this position is on technology modernization, process standardization, and thorough documentation of network systems and processes. In this role, the Network Engineer will assess and improve existing network systems to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various network devices such as routers, firewalls, switches, SDWAN appliances, wireless controllers, and access points. The engineer will also manage and maintain VoIP systems and technologies, which encompass call trees, hunt groups, moves/adds/changes, voicemail systems, and Direct Inward Dialing (DIDs). A key aspect of the role involves interfacing with and managing relationships with telecommunication vendors, overseeing the complete life cycle of both data and voice circuits from ordering through provisioning, installation, cut-over, and disconnect. Additionally, the Network Engineer will be tasked with updating and maintaining system documentation, providing support to internal end users, application development staff, and offering Level 2 support to the Service Desk. The ideal candidate should excel in both team and independent settings, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to tailor instructions and guidance to the end user's skill level. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying, deploying, and managing complex networking systems and projects, with a willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and improve existing network systems for increased effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices such as routers, firewalls, switches, SDWAN appliances, wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Manage and maintain VoIP systems and technologies, including call trees, hunt groups, moves/adds/changes, voicemail systems, and DIDs.
  • Interface with and manage relationships with telecommunication vendors.
  • Oversee the complete life cycle of both data and voice circuits, from ordering through provisioning, installation, cut-over, and disconnect.
  • Update and maintain system documentation.
  • Provide support to internal end users, application development staff, and Level 2 support to the Service Desk.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of tailoring instructions and guidance to the end user's skill level.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and other networking protocols, including subnetting, routing, network connectivity, and VoIP.
  • Experienced with telecom vendors, technologies, circuit delivery methods, and on-premise telecom equipment.
  • Skilled in SDWAN and firewall management and troubleshooting, specifically with Fortinet Fortigate appliances.
  • Familiarity with Aruba Wireless APs, ClearPass authentication, and RingCentral Hosted VoIP is a plus.
  • Ability to identify, deploy, and manage complex networking systems and projects.
