About the position

The Network Engineer position involves providing technical support for the planning, design, maintenance, and integration of local and wide area network infrastructure. The role requires effective communication and a strong technical background, with responsibilities including managing network infrastructure and troubleshooting complex network issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and SD-WAN appliances.
• Perform network management functions to monitor, test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network problems.
• Assist in planning and designing LAN/WAN network architecture, including bandwidth analysis and capacity planning.
• Execute planned deployments and upgrades, supporting change management efforts within the edge networking group.
• Participate in Service Now trouble ticket resolution and ensure proper documentation of incidents.
• Provide tier 2 support for widespread network events and incidents.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex network issues proactively, communicating with other networking teams as needed.
• Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies for network enhancements.
• Assist in creating Visio diagrams to document network elements and configurations.
• Support remote IT staff and agency operations with network-related issues.

Requirements

• Numerous years of experience in a large network environment.
• CCNA and CCNP certifications preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong understanding of various routing protocols and network monitoring tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from a step ladder.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SD-WAN technologies (2 years beneficial).
• Experience in network switching (4-5 years required).
• Experience in network routing (3-4 years required).
