About the position

The Network Engineer II for Data Center Inventory Management at Spectrum will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the inventory of hardware and equipment within a state-of-the-art data center. This position involves working under general supervision to assist in the planning, forecasting, evaluation, and reporting of products submitted for qualification. The engineer will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and implementation of test methods and processes, ensuring that all testing is coordinated with other teams and that documentation of assigned projects is meticulously tracked and completed. In this role, the engineer will configure, monitor, and optimize software tools that track and manage hardware and equipment inventory. They will ensure system reliability, handle software updates and integrations, and provide technical support to users. Additionally, the engineer will maintain security protocols, generate performance reports, and coordinate with other IT teams to enhance inventory management processes and support data center operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a background in data center operations, and experience with inventory management systems. The position requires overseeing the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software to ensure accurate inventory tracking and monitoring. Responsibilities also include administering user access, maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations, planning and executing software updates, and developing best practices for using DCIM software. The engineer will provide training and support to team members, ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards, and actively support efforts to enhance the customer experience. This role may also involve participating in evaluation planning, design, and engineering of lab enhancements, as well as evaluating new products and making recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, forecasting, evaluation, and reporting of products for qualification.
  • Develop, enhance, and implement test methods and processes.
  • Coordinate testing with other teams and track documentation of assigned projects.
  • Configure, monitor, and optimize software tools for hardware and equipment inventory management.
  • Ensure system reliability and handle software updates and integrations.
  • Provide technical support to users and maintain security protocols.
  • Generate performance reports and coordinate with IT teams to enhance inventory management processes.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of DCIM software.
  • Administer user access, permissions, and roles within management software.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and changes.
  • Plan and execute software updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Utilize DCIM software to manage and update inventory records.
  • Develop and implement best practices for DCIM software usage.
  • Provide training and support on DCIM software functionality and inventory management procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in evaluation planning, design, and engineering of lab enhancements.
  • Evaluate new products and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards.
  • Implement approved methods of procedure.
  • Work on projects of medium to high complexity surrounding CATV planning, configuration, and optimization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data network experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data networking (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport).
  • Knowledge of industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, Transport technologies).
  • Experience in network design, architecture, protocols, and topology.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and software tools for operations support.
  • Knowledge of basic network devices and appliances.
  • Experience with network designing software, such as Visio.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to use personal computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
