The Business Network Design Services (BNDS) team is integral to this effort, focusing on designing and implementing network infrastructure that supports various business units. This includes managing LAN, MAN, WAN, internet, Wi-Fi, and voice network services. Our engineers work closely with other technical teams to ensure that we provide robust network services that meet the needs of our diverse operations. This role presents an exciting opportunity to build networks that support Disney's world-class business units, including filmed and TV production, media and broadcast, and content distribution. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is not only a problem solver but also possesses a strong sense of ownership and initiative. The ideal candidate will have excellent collaboration and communication skills and a keen interest in learning new networking technologies. As a Network Engineer II, you will provide network design and consulting services, develop network design plans, and drive the implementation of network solutions. This hybrid role requires a balance of technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and project management capabilities, making it essential to work effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide network design and consulting services to business units and peer groups.
  • Develop network design plans and drive the implementation of network solutions.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Network Engineers to meet with business unit technologists to understand technical strategy and gather requirements.
  • Translate requirements into technology solutions, requiring relationship building and critical thinking skills.
  • Prepare technical designs with guidance from senior resources and management, leveraging Disney's architecture and design standards.
  • Write Scope of Work documents to guide 3rd party implementers in configuring network devices.
  • Assist in the oversight of 3rd party resources to ensure on-time, on-budget implementation of solutions, including risk management.
  • Work with BNDS peers and senior networking resources to evaluate innovative technology solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an enterprise environment operating 7x24 services to multiple business units.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN topologies and platforms, routing protocols, and current data center architectures.
  • Basic or intermediate programming skills in Python or other contemporary toolset/language.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols including RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, RMTP, BGP, and telecommunication connectivity including MPLS, Private Line, Metro Ethernet, Site-to-Site VPN, and internet.
  • Proven technical expertise in interfacing network devices and services in a multi-platform environment (Wireless, VoIP, Video conferencing, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Media/Entertainment/Video Distribution/Broadcast industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and manage complex projects.
  • Data center and/or cloud network design experience.
  • Experience with multiple vendor switching, routing, and security products.
