About the position

The Network Engineer II at Disney is responsible for providing network design and consulting services to various business units, developing network design plans, and driving the implementation of network solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with senior engineers and business unit technologists. The position focuses on architecting large-scale data networks that enhance security, performance, and cost-effectiveness while supporting Disney's diverse business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide network design and consulting services to business units and peer groups.
  • Develop network design plans and drive implementation of network solutions.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Network Engineers to understand technical strategy and gather requirements.
  • Prepare technical designs with guidance from senior resources and management.
  • Write Scope of Work documents for 3rd party implementers.
  • Assist in the oversight of 3rd party resources for on-time, on-budget implementation of solutions.
  • Evaluate innovative technology solutions in collaboration with the architecture team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in an enterprise environment operating 7x24 services with responsibilities in network operations, implementation, design, and architecture.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN topologies, routing protocols, and current data center architectures.
  • Basic or intermediate programming skills in Python or other contemporary languages.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols including RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and telecommunication connectivity.
  • Proven technical expertise in interfacing network devices in a multi-platform environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Media/Entertainment/Video Distribution/Broadcast industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects.
  • Data center and/or cloud network design experience.
  • Experience with multiple vendor switching, routing, and security products.
