The Enterprise Technology team plays a crucial role in this mission by delivering technology solutions that align with business strategies, enhance consumer experiences, and promote operational excellence. The Business Network Design Services (BNDS) team is integral to this effort, focusing on designing and implementing network infrastructure that supports various business units. This includes services such as LAN, MAN, WAN, internet, Wi-Fi, and voice networks. Our engineers work collaboratively with other technical teams to ensure that we provide robust network services that meet the needs of our diverse business operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the network infrastructure that supports Disney's world-class business units, including filmed and TV production, media and broadcast, and content distribution. We are looking for a dynamic Network Engineer II who is not only technically proficient but also possesses strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and a collaborative spirit. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and project management capabilities. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn new networking technologies and will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide network design and consulting services to business units and peer groups.
  • Develop network design plans and drive the implementation of network solutions.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Network Engineers to understand technical strategy and gather requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technology solutions through effective relationship building and planning.
  • Prepare technical designs with guidance from senior resources and management, adhering to Disney's architecture and design standards.
  • Write Scope of Work documents to guide third-party implementers in configuring network devices.
  • Assist in the oversight of third-party resources to ensure on-time and on-budget implementation of network solutions.
  • Evaluate innovative technology solutions and provide practical perspectives to the architecture team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in an enterprise environment operating 7x24 services across multiple business units.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN topologies and platforms, routing protocols, and current data center architectures.
  • Basic or intermediate programming skills in Python or other contemporary languages.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols including RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, RMTP, BGP, and telecommunication connectivity such as MPLS and VPNs.
  • Proven technical expertise in interfacing network devices in a multi-platform environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the media, entertainment, video distribution, or broadcast industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects effectively.
  • Data center and/or cloud network design experience.
  • Experience with multiple vendor switching, routing, and security products.
