About the position

Sev1Tech is seeking an experienced Network Engineer II to support the meshONE-T program, with positions available in either the Denver, CO or Colorado Springs, CO office. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and evaluating both new and existing computer networks, services, policies, and procedures across local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and intranets. This role requires providing analytical, technical, and administrative support to ensure optimal network performance and reliability. The Network Engineer will troubleshoot network issues, install and upgrade network equipment and software, and create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records. Establishing and documenting network technical support processes and procedures is also a key responsibility. The engineer will practice network asset management, which includes maintaining an inventory of network components and related documentation and technical specifications. Monitoring and testing network performance is crucial, as the engineer will provide performance statistics and reports. Effective communication with other project groups, such as cybersecurity, network operations, and Program Management teams, is essential to assist with the installation and troubleshooting of system components. The engineer will also support updates to all documents when there are changes in transport design and/or technologies, collaborating with stakeholders to test all related systems and processes to ensure they meet requirements without degrading performance or security. Additionally, the role involves providing design and architecture recommendations to enhance and improve network performance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and evaluate new and existing computer networks, services, policies, and procedures across LANs, WANs, and intranets.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and install/upgrade network equipment and software.
  • Create and maintain documentation relating to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Establish and document network technical support processes and procedures.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
  • Monitor and test network performance, providing performance statistics and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with project groups such as cybersecurity, network operations, and Program Management teams.
  • Support updates to documents when there are changes in transport design and/or technologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to test systems and processes to verify performance and security requirements.
  • Provide design and architecture recommendations to enhance network performance.

Requirements

  • At least 5-8 years of network engineering experience, including functions and concepts of WAN, OSI network layers, and designing LAN/WANs.
  • Experience with routing/switching configuration and troubleshooting to the CCNP level.
  • IP experience, including sub-netting and routing, IPV4/IPV6.
  • Current Security + certification.
  • Current active Secret clearance and eligibility for TS/SCI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NetBrain, Network Services Orchestrator, Solarwinds, Infoblox, and ITSM.
  • Knowledge of/experience with space mission systems.
  • Familiarity with VM, Linux, and/or Windows environments.
  • Experience working in Department of Defense or with Department of Defense or Federal contracts.
