About The Position

The Network Engineer II position is responsible for Tier I monitoring and initial triage in a Satellite network operations center environment. This role involves customer support for complex systems in a 24x7 environment, requiring work across all shifts, including weekends and holidays. The engineer will proactively monitor and direct repair activities for VSAT networks, ensuring reliable network management and communication with customers.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of Satellite and IP Networking experience.
• Preferably military satellite experience.
• Experience with iDirect, ViaSat, or other satellite vendor systems or VSAT Certification.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience with Multicast over MPLS Networks.
• Must be flexible to work in a 24x7 environment across all shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Military Satellite Experience.
• Verizon Network Operations experience.
• Cisco/Juniper Certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Proactive monitoring and directing repair activities for Very Small-Aperture terminals (VSAT) networks to identify and resolve network anomalies and faults.
• Operate and align antennas, conduct cross-polarization performance tests, and perform unit and direct support maintenance on satellite communications equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to field & vendor technicians and operations center personnel engaged in the maintenance of satellite communication systems.
• Respond and perform Tier I triage of network alarms utilizing available network tools and systems.
• Create customer trouble tickets on outages identified via network management systems and tools.
• Test and isolate circuit issues using client tools/Telco local loop, and customer in-house wiring.
• Test and repair hardware issues in the customer WAN/LAN environment.
• Coordinate multiple vendor dispatches for repair at the customer premise.
• Provide customer status of ongoing issues and communicate via phone/email/ticket notes with customer POCs.
• Handle calls from internal/external customers in an ACD environment.
