About the position

The Network Engineer - II position is focused on providing Tier I monitoring and initial triage in a Satellite network operations center environment. The role involves supporting complex systems and ensuring reliable network operations in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays. The engineer will be responsible for proactive monitoring, troubleshooting network anomalies, and providing technical assistance to field technicians and operations personnel.

Responsibilities

• Proactive monitoring and directing repair activities for Very Small-Aperture terminals (VSAT) networks.
• Operating and aligning antennas, conducting cross-polarization performance tests, and performing maintenance on satellite communications equipment.
• Providing technical assistance to field and vendor technicians, and operations center personnel.
• Responding to and performing Tier I triage of network alarms using available network tools and systems.
• Creating customer trouble tickets for outages identified via network management systems.
• Testing and isolating circuit issues using tools and customer in-house wiring.
• Testing and repairing hardware issues in the customer WAN/LAN environment.
• Coordinating multiple vendor dispatches for repairs at the customer premise.
• Providing customer status updates on ongoing issues and communicating via phone/email/ticket notes with customer points of contact.
• Handling calls from internal/external customers in an ACD environment.

Requirements

• 3+ years of Satellite and IP Networking experience.
• Military satellite experience preferred.
• Experience with iDirect, ViaSat, or other satellite vendor systems or VSAT Certification.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience with Multicast over MPLS Networks.
• Flexibility to work in a 7 X 24 environment across all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves
