About the position

The Network Engineer - II position focuses on managing and planning outside plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure projects in Northern Virginia. This role is critical for the company's network transformation objectives, including the development of new products such as FTTx, small cell, and ethernet. The engineer will oversee all aspects of fiber planning and project management, ensuring effective communication and timely execution of projects to meet business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of OSP fiber planning and project management in Northern Virginia.
  • Prepare overall fiber route planning for various service types.
  • Drive complex projects and programs to achieve targeted business goals.
  • Plan and design additions, upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the network.
  • Select and price solutions based on effective and efficient design.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate project schedule impacts.
  • Maintain excellent communication with team members, management, and external customers.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for inter-organizational and external customer interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Experience in making independent decisions based on policies and project requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering, planning, and operations, particularly in telecommunications networks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make network design decisions based on engineering guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Local and Long-Haul Telecommunications networks.
  • Technical or project management experience.
