About the position

The Network Engineer II position at CBTS Technology Solutions LLC is a critical role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure for managed service clients. This role involves monitoring and troubleshooting network issues, as well as implementing security measures to protect client networks. A significant focus of this position is on the implementation of SD-WAN, SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), and NaaS (Network as a Service) products into customer environments. The Network Engineer II will work closely with clients, providing technical support and ensuring that their network needs are met effectively. In this role, the engineer will be expected to work independently and demonstrate a self-starter attitude. Technical experience in Data Center and Enterprise Routing and Switching is essential. Collaboration with Managed Service Providers, Architects, Security, and Engineers is crucial for network transformation, improvements, and conducting Proof of Concepts. The engineer will design and implement networking solutions, assist in product selections, and conduct comprehensive reviews of design documents, providing both verbal and written feedback. The position requires the ability to translate technical concepts into clear communications for both technical and non-technical audiences. The engineer will create documents and presentations, provide recommendations for developing the technology roadmap, and ensure adherence to standards and reference architectures. Clear and effective communication with architecture, project, and program managers is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement networking solutions for managed service clients.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Implement security measures to protect client networks.
  • Collaborate with Managed Service Providers, Architects, Security, and Engineers for network transformation and improvements.
  • Assist in product selections and conduct proof of concepts.
  • Provide input and comprehensive reviews of design documents, offering feedback to authors.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear communications for various audiences.
  • Create documentation and presentations for technical solutions.
  • Provide recommendations for developing the technology roadmap.
  • Ensure adherence to standards and reference architectures for the network domain.
  • Communicate effectively with architecture, project, and program managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in network engineering.
  • CCNA certification required; CCNP preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Network Engineering in a Managed Service Provider or similar workspace, or 5+ years in an Enterprise workspace.
  • Experience with network and security automation tools such as Ansible, Python, Javascript, Terraform, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot large enterprise networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of implementing and supporting multi-vendor complex Routing and Switching infrastructure.
  • Experience with network vendor APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with Cisco, VMware Velocloud, Palo Alto, or other SD-WAN vendors is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, and/or GCP is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network and security automation tools.
  • Familiarity with multi-vendor complex Routing and Switching infrastructure.
  • Experience with network vendor APIs.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN and SASE solutions.
