Ideal candidates for this role will have expert skills in troubleshooting optical connectivity solutions and maintaining metro fiber backbone ring topology.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, develops, tests, analyzes and documents WAN and LAN infrastructure.
  • Performs routine operational tasks, maintenance, project work, installation duties, and support duties.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring, training, and participates in a support on-call rotation facilitating off-hour work functions in support of incidents, upgrades, patches, and project task fulfillment.
  • Designs system configuration, directs system installation, and implements system standards and solutions to improve the resilience and functionality of our system environment and performance.
  • Maximizes network performance and minimizes downtime through active system monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of network outages, incidents, scheduling upgrades, and routine maintenance.
  • Consults and collaborates with network architects and developers to optimize the network.
  • Performs data network fault investigations and secures the system network by establishing and enforcing policies, and monitoring system traffic.
  • Supports and administers firewall environments to secure network traffic and minimize risk.
  • Uses communication skills to listen to, identify & address customer needs while building a relationship and rapport with customers.
  • Prioritizes and responds promptly based on severity levels to needs of the customer, recognizing opportunities for service recovery and acting to resolve issues.
  • Maintains a professional appearance for both themselves and their work environment.
  • Completes IT Governance & IT project job assignments to ensure achievement of established project milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years' work related experience in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 6 years designing, planning, deploying, documenting, maintenance & diagnosing of switch, route, DHCP, DNS, NTP, Wireless, NGFW, ADC, WAN, IP Voice & Video, & Copper/Fiber Cabling.
