The position involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. The individual in this role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. This includes identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, and escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. The role also entails monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and availability. Key responsibilities include performing network upgrades and routine hardware configurations, monitoring network performance, and resolving incident tickets. The individual will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and implement network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN. Administration of corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication is also a critical function of this role. The position requires the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all changes and configurations are well-documented and accessible. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The individual will assist in preparing proposals and solution presentations, as well as presenting root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. Daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment are also expected, along with performing other duties as assigned.
