About the position

The Network Engineer III position is a critical role within Ryder's IT department, focusing on the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier or vendor as necessary to ensure timely resolution. In addition to troubleshooting and support, the Network Engineer III will monitor and control infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and availability. This includes performing network upgrades and routine hardware configurations, as well as creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. The role also involves corporate network services administration, including DNS, DHCP, and authentication services. The position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation, ensuring that network services remain operational and any incidents are addressed promptly. The Network Engineer III will also be involved in preparing proposals and solution presentations, as well as presenting root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and performance of Ryder's network infrastructure, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and that any issues are resolved efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement local area networks, wide area networks, and remote access services.
  • Provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk for escalated end-user or site issues.
  • Identify hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and control infrastructure performance in terms of response, throughput, and availability.
  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment.
  • Administer MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Administer corporate DNS and DHCP services.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations.
  • Present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents.
  • Perform daily maintenance and problem resolution on the LAN/WAN environment.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in MIS, CIS, MBA, or Business Administration.
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in IT and/or Networking or Security required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco enterprise Routers and Switches required.
  • Advanced knowledge of SDWAN technology, specifically Silverpeak and Meraki preferred.
  • Expertise in WiFi technologies including Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, and Aerohive-Extreme required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of F5 or equivalent ADC Load Balancers required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Cloud technologies including Azure, AWS, and OCI preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking monitoring and application performance tools, specifically Solarwinds required.
  • CCNP or equivalent proven enterprise experience is required.
  • CWNP or CWSP certifications are a plus.
