The Network Engineer III position at Ryder System involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is critical as it serves as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The Network Engineer III is responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary to ensure timely resolution. Additionally, this position requires monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and overall availability of network services. In this role, the engineer will engage in various essential functions, including network upgrades, routine hardware configuration, and incident ticket resolution. The engineer will also participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, ensuring that network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN, are effectively implemented and maintained. Responsibilities extend to corporate network services administration, including DNS, DHCP, and authentication processes. The engineer will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all configurations and changes are well-documented for future reference. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The engineer will also assist in preparing proposals and solution presentations, as well as presenting root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. Daily maintenance and problem resolution on the LAN/WAN environment are also key components of this role, along with performing other duties as assigned by management.
