About the position

The Network Engineer III position at Ryder System involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is critical as it serves as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The engineer will be responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and overall availability. In this role, the engineer will engage in network upgrades and routine hardware configuration, ensuring that all network performance metrics are met. Responsibilities include remedying incident ticket problem resolutions, participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation, and implementing various network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN. The engineer will also administer corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication, while creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. Additional responsibilities include configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services, and troubleshooting network problems. The engineer will assist in preparing proposals and solution presentations, as well as presenting root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents.
