About the position

The position involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. The individual in this role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. This includes identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, and escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. The role also entails monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and availability to ensure optimal network functionality. Key responsibilities include performing network upgrades and routine hardware configurations, as well as remedying incident ticket problem resolutions. The individual will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, implementing network architectures that encompass LAN, WLAN, and WAN. Additionally, the role involves corporate network services administration, including DNS, DHCP, and authentication services. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all network configurations and changes are well-documented for future reference. The position also requires the individual to monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly to minimize downtime. The candidate will assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations, and will be expected to present root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. Daily maintenance and problem resolution on the LAN/WAN environment are also critical components of this role, along with performing other duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services.
  • Provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk for end-user or site issue escalations.
  • Identify hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate carrier or vendor as required to resolve problems.
  • Monitor and control infrastructure performance in terms of response, throughput, and availability.
  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment.
  • Administer MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Administer corporate DNS and DHCP services.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations.
  • Present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents.
  • Perform daily maintenance and problem resolution on the LAN/WAN environment.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in MIS, CIS, MBA, or Business Administration.
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in IT and/or Networking or Security required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco enterprise Routers and Switches required.
  • Advanced knowledge of SDWAN technology (Silverpeak and Meraki) preferred.
  • Expertise in WiFi technologies (Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, and Aerohive-Extreme) required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of F5 or equivalent ADC Load Balancers required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, and OCI) preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of networking monitoring and application performance tools (Solarwinds) required.
  • CCNP or equivalent proven enterprise experience is preferred.
  • CWNP or CWSP certifications are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SDWAN technology (Silverpeak and Meraki).
  • Knowledge of Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, and OCI).
  • F5 or equivalent ADC Load Balancers experience.
