About the position

The Network Engineer III position at Ryder System involves planning, implementing, and maintaining local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role serves as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing complex issues that require advanced technical expertise. The engineer will monitor network performance, troubleshoot problems, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement local area networks, wide area networks, and remote access services.
  • Provide third level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk for escalated end user or site issues.
  • Identify and resolve hardware or software technical problems related to network infrastructure.
  • Monitor and control network performance in terms of response, throughput, and availability.
  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment.
  • Administer corporate network services including DNS, DHCP, and authentication.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
  • Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation for network support.
  • Present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in MIS, CIS, MBA, or Business Administration.
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in IT and/or Networking or Security required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco enterprise Routers and Switches required.
  • Expertise in WiFi technologies such as Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, and Aerohive-Extreme required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of F5 or equivalent ADC Load Balancers required.
  • Intermediate experience with cloud services such as Azure, AWS, and OCI preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with networking monitoring and application performance tools like Solarwinds required.
  • CCNP or equivalent proven enterprise experience preferred.
  • CWNP or CWSP certifications are a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of SDWAN technology such as Silverpeak and Meraki preferred.
