The Network Engineer III position is a critical role within Ryder's IT department, focusing on the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The Network Engineer III will be responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier or vendor as necessary to ensure timely resolution. Additionally, this position involves monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, specifically in areas such as response time, throughput, and availability. In this role, the engineer will engage in various essential functions, including network upgrades and routine hardware configuration. They will actively monitor and control network performance, remedy incident ticket problem resolutions, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The implementation of network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN, is a key responsibility, along with the administration of corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication. The engineer will also be tasked with creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, ensuring that all changes and configurations are well-documented for future reference. Additional responsibilities include daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The engineer will monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems, assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations, and present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents. This position requires a proactive approach to network management and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and performance.
