The Network Engineer III position at Ryder involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. This role is critical as it serves as the third level of support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. The engineer will be responsible for identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. Additionally, the role includes monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and overall availability. In this position, the engineer will engage in network upgrades and routine hardware configuration, ensuring that all network performance metrics are met. Responsibilities also include remedying incident ticket problems, participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation, and implementing various network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN. The role requires administration of corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication, along with the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. Additional responsibilities encompass daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment, configuring, testing, and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and administering MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The engineer will also monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems, assist in the preparation of proposals and solution presentations, and present root cause analysis (RCA) for severity 1 incidents. The position may also involve performing other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of Ryder's network infrastructure.
