The position involves the planning and implementation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and remote access services. The individual in this role is expected to provide third-level support for the Ryder IT Technical Service Desk, addressing any end-user or site issues that require assistance beyond the capabilities of the service desk. This includes identifying hardware or software technical problems and malfunctions related to network infrastructure, and escalating issues to the appropriate carrier as necessary. The role also entails monitoring and controlling infrastructure performance, focusing on response times, throughput, and availability. Key responsibilities include performing network upgrades and routine hardware configurations, monitoring network performance, and resolving incident tickets. The individual will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and implement various network architectures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN. Additionally, the role involves administering corporate network services such as DNS, DHCP, and authentication, as well as creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems, configuring and maintaining LAN/WAN equipment, and managing MPLS, VRF, VPN, and Internet network services. The individual will also assist in preparing proposals and solution presentations, and present root cause analyses for severity 1 incidents. Daily maintenance and problem resolution within the LAN/WAN environment are also essential functions of this role, along with performing other duties as assigned.
